Megamall

First Reading:               1 John 3:13-18
Psalm:                         Psalm 116:10-13, 16-17
Gospel:                        John 15:12-17

12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 This I command you, to love one another.

HOMILY

The Gospel today says ‘unless we become like children, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven’. Like children, we should be humble and open to accept God’s love and to assimilate God’s word, that it becomes part of our being.

Only by being little children are we able to openly welcome God, depending on Him fully, and follow His Ways without question, without reservation. It is only by being little children that we can also willingly share God’s blessings to others, without expecting anything, and become life-giving. Let us pray for the grace to become God’s little ones despite difficulties, so that when  time comes, we may deserve to enter the sweet Kingdom of Heaven.
